The digital picture frame is on of the best inventions of science and technology. With the help of this, even a person without any technical education can operate the functionalities of a picture frame and enjoy the beautiful images and important files in the most efficient manner. The picture frame is integrated with an LCD screen that displays the colorful images in a slideshow mode. A phone line enables to connect internet to the frame and thus enable to view the data or images on the screen.

The frame can be purchased by a person who has a computer and can be passed on to others after creating an account. The person also needs to create an account and upload pictures to the Cieva website. New pictures are downloaded by the digital picture frame by connecting to the internet and the website.

Apart from uploading pictures, the Cieva website also accesses the settings controlling the frame such as the time when the frame turns on or off, the interval between picture display in slideshow and the dial-up phone numbers.

There are no special components used in a digital photo frame. Generally, the components that are used in a desktop computer, is simply used. The frame has a CPU which is very common in video games. The primary function of the CPU is to download the images from the website. In addition the frame is also integrated with a ROM memory for the storage of the flash memory and operating system. The ROM basically stores the operating software, images and settings to run the digital frame.

Loss of data does not occur if the frame is unplugged. It uses a 33.6 Kbps modem to connect to the internet. The viewing area of the screen is 5 x 7 inches with a liquid crystal display of 640 x 480 pixels. The screen shows pictures in about 4,100 or 12-bit color. The frame can be controlled with two buttons present on it.

The presence of a black button enables the user to adjust the brightness and contrast level of the picture frame. The white button in the frame can turn on functions and in addition can be utilized to dial manually. PSOS is the main operating system for the frame. This operating system is also used for PDAs and small devices.

The frame creates a photo gallery by connecting to the internet and a powers source. The white button at the back is used to turn on and connect the frame to the internet and display the original pictures stored on the frame. Only pictures and settings can be downloaded to the frame with this connection.

The frame logs on to the Cieva servers after connecting to the internet and downloads the available new pictures and settings. The internet connection is disconnected after completion of the task and the new photos are displayed by the frame in a slideshow mode.
